About me
Brandy James, PhD, is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies at Ball State University and Lecturer in Family Community Medicine at the University of Arizona. She holds a PhD. In Elementary Education, an M.A. in Counseling, and a M.S. Gerontology. A passionate advocate for early childhood intervention and family empowerment. Dr. James integrates her interdisciplinary expertise to support inclusive practices and family engagement. She is the author of Makenna the Mighty and the founder of the Black Father Crew, a network that promotes Black fathers of children with disabilities through IEP advocacy, self-advocacy events, and community initiatives that celebrate fatherhood and resilience.
