About me
Alexander Campbell is a self-advocate with autism and PTSD who primarily focuses on issues related to public education. Specifically, Alex has been involved in passing thirteen bills across five state legislatures, as well as several local school board policies in Virginia, and has since become a regular presenter at conferences and provided testimony to the Virginia General Assembly. He also re-introduced the Keeping All Students Safe Act to the United States House of Representatives on behalf of Congressman Don Beyer. His advocacy has been featured in The Hill, The Washington Post, The Associated Press, NBC, NPR, and a number of other national and local publications. Alex has also published a variety of opinion pieces and scholarship related to special education and disability policy. In recognition of his accomplishments, he has won national awards from United Methodist Family Services and the Council for Exceptional Children, respectively, in addition to receiving the Arc of Virginia’s Catalyst for Change award. Alex was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities and serves on the Arc of Virginia Board of Directors. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University this year with dual undergraduate degrees in political science and criminal justice.
