Sam Atencio is a Senior Program Specialist for the Division of Special Education at Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), where he supports early childhood educators working with students who have IEPs. While the educators he works with are already doing great work, Sam helps them elevate their practice by planning collaboratively and removing barriers so that all students can be included and successful. With over 20 years of experience in education, Sam has taught diverse student populations, mentored new teachers, and now uses Practice-Based Coaching to support early educators. He’s passionate about student success and believes the best way to achieve it is by empowering teachers with the tools and strategies they need to thrive.
